It sounds like maybe your keyboard is just broken. Do you have another OS you can boot into on that laptop to try typing there, as well? If not, I guess I have a few recommendations, if it really is just the touchpad:
- make sure your hands don't touch the touchpad at all when you're typing (I've had this problem before) - Clean off the keyboard, make sure there's no gunk stuck anywhere and no buttons jammed down, especially on the touchpad - disable the touchpad altogether, and just use a regular mouse. There's usually a function key to disable it.
