Thankyou for all your efforts in resolving this . I do have a few observations though , this did not occur with any earlier version of Ubuntu or with jaunty prior to kernel 2.6.28-4 where ipv6 was built in to the kernel , as long as I disabled ipv6 in /etc/modprobe.d/alieses and blacklisted ipv6 . My solution will be to install the new router I bought as soon as this came up , I have just been keeping the old one online to test fixes .
