Hello Since I reported this bug I had to change to Xubuntu 8.10 32-bit, where a sis display driver is available and working quite solidly, will try to get a little time post it on my site, I was already getting eyesight problems out of the vesa driver stripes and fed up of back and forth ctrl-alt-f7... My xorg.conf was the plain standard one with the modification I published in http://ajoliveira.com/ajoliveira/uk/software/xorg.php
This seems to be a kernel issue, the problem is in all Linux distros I know apart of the Brazilian Satux. Since long now there is no appropriate driver for sis (namely) 671/771 chipsets. My cabled network connection is now working as well. The downside was that I had to install the server kernel in order to profit from full 4GB memory, but that was straightforward. RTL8187B problem seems intact. -- sis 771/671 graphics board only works in vesa mode https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/332140 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
