Does this happen consistently all the time, or just intermittently? (When I've seen it, it's been irregular, as though the driver got into some weird state, and it goes away after restarting X.)
Please test if this issue still occurs on Jaunty Alpha-5 or newer - you can get ISOs from http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/releases/jaunty. If it doesn't happen consistently all the time, please outline the steps you take to reproduce the issue. Or if it happens for indeterminate reasons, outline stuff you'd been doing prior to the problem cropping up, and any steps you take to make it go away (e.g. restarting X).
