I have seen hibernate fails to work when the swap partition has been changed. 
I have cloned my partition with Ubuntu to a new HD, wich already had a 
swappartition. Ubuntu din't see the swappartition, and also hibernate didn't 
work anymore. 

I think it's usefull when Ubuntu doesn  have a swappartition, it scans
all the HD's, reports wich one has a usable swap partition, and gives
the option to use it for swap and hibernate.
