Hi Ronald, What happens if you don't pass any kernel parameters when you try to boot (ie remove the "notsc" and "clocksource=hpet" options).
Also, care to test the latest pre-release for Jaunty 9.04 (currently Alpha 4). It contains a newer 2.6.28 based kernel and it would be good to know if this issue still exists. You should be able to test booting with a LiveCD - http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/jaunty/ . Please let us know your results.
