I disagree with Sebastien for two reasons: 1. The behavior is not consistent between models of computers. The T42p behaved differently than the T60p; if GTK is designed to grab all keyboard events when a menu is opened then the results would be consistent. 2. If GTK is designed to handle keyboard events while a menu is open then this should be changed to a wishlist. I tested this functionality on Windows XP, Vista and OS X and the volume control - multimedia buttons all work when menus are opened.
