** Description changed:

  Hello,

My keyboard no longer functions after resuming from standby. This is a
relatively recent bug - I believe it is connected to a BIOS update to
allow me to control screen brightness.

  1) System information:
Toshiba Satellite A100 running Kubuntu 8.10 with KDE 4.2
  lsb_release -rd:
  Description: Ubuntu 8.10
  Release: 8.10

  3) The keyboard should work normally after either manually choosing
"Suspend to RAM" or through power manager automatically suspending to
  RAM.

  4) Instead, the keyboard does not respond. Pressing keys has no effect
whatsoever. The only keys that do function are the Fn+ F5/F6 keys to
adjust display brightness. I believe this problem started after
updating the Phoenix BIOS - prior to the BIOS update, brightness
  settings did not work.

Attached is the output of dmesg before and after the standby.
+
+ Update: I forgot to add, logging out and logging back in solves the
+ problem.
