I have updated to libc6 2.9-0ubuntu12 from the repos , while this may give some small improvement (too small to be sure) it has not fixed my problem , which as I noted is with my router , not my ISP . at least NM now allows me to switch between eth0 (the problem router) and wlan0 through a different router whithout having to unplug the cable .
