I will attach the /var/log/Xorg.0.log file from after reproducing this issue in the next comment as I don't know how to attach two attachments to a single comment. I do not know how to respond to the statement on the top of this page. "This bug isn't linked to gnome-utils (Ubuntu). Would you like to report it here as well?" Please let me know if I need to report this in gnome-utils (Ubuntu).
