Hi,

This exact same bug/error/artifacts, whatever you want to call the
horizontal lines are occuring to me too. Here is what I'm using:

Intrepid (8.10) 32 bit
Asus P5N72-T Premium
Intel Core 2 Duo @ 3.0 GHz
Nvidia geforce 9600 GT

I was using 177 nvidia drivers package from Ubuntu repos and this bug
was occurring. I've upgraded to 180.29 by downloading drivers from
nvidia's site and the bug still occurs.

To reproduce just play a video with any player, VLC, mplayer, totem,
etc... It seems to be worse with higher quality videos like 720p or
1080p. And it only happens when there is action/movement in the video.
Attached are the files and output mentioned in the previous post. I hope
this helps.
