I have been running without ipw2200 loaded for a while, and could suspend and hibernate many times. Now it got hung, but this time sysrq worked, and there was backtrace in Xorg.0.log. I think this is another issue so I will report it separately, it crashed inside libxaa so switching to EXA might change things. I will do all updates and check again.
