It looks like that this will be too big task to properly solve for Jaunty: I have backported/adapted most of the fixes for warnings from upstream SVN (it still took me quite some time :-(), but upstream still does not have any error handling for fgets/fscanf/fwrite calls. :-( Also it still uses v4l directly (w/o libv4l library).
I just do not have enough time to personally work on solving this issue for Jaunty. Based on Kees comment, it does not look like we can get this into Main.
