I can confirm this - it also make console logins impossible without
doing a reboot and removing the splash options.

Moreover the ability to press alt + F1 (or F2 or F3) to dismiss the boot
up graphics during boot is also not present. (As it is in every other
distribution).

This is a very useful facility for trouble shooting and should be
included.
