Thanks Sgop for the log. If the system is still in this state, could you please attach /var/lib/dpkg/status and then run "sudo dpkg --configure -a" and "sudo apt-get install -f" and attach the output. If it is not, could you please attach your /var/log/apt/term.log ? Maybe it contains more traces.
It looks like "xterm" is in trigger-awaited state at this point and then it gets called with "dpkg --configure". Knowning what trigger is pending would help me.
