I own a EeePC 901 which has the same network card as the 1000H. At the moment the driver for the ethernet card is not included in the system (not either on 8.10), but there are a lot of tutorials available how to install it, e. g. http://kunin.wordpress.com/2008/07/05/asus-eee-pc-901/
