OK, so this bug happened again on my system a few days ago, with the old nautilus packages (from the regular 'dapper' repo), so the new bug is perhaps not related to this, or at least it can happen without the patch from this bug report applied to nautilus. Also, at first this bug would surface after just a few hours of usage; then it was intermitent, while right now it's been a long time since the last time I had it.
