What I'm seeing on the wireshark captures is that even between two
systems on the same LAN connectivity between two IPv6 addresses will be
much slower due to the packets being sent with sizes much larger than
the interface MTU. In cases where the switch MTU is smaller than the
size sent the packets will be dropped and thus connections suffer.
