My problems seem to be solved by upgrading pulseaudio to ver. 0.9.14-0ubuntu4~intrepid1 from the next-media personal package archive (https://launchpad.net/~next-media/+archive/ppa). A lot of other packages were upgraded at the same time.
However, I get the following message in /var/log/messages: pulseaudio[5570]: module-alsa-source.c: Your kernel driver is broken: it reports a volume range from 18.00 dB to 18.00 dB which makes no sense. That doesn't seem to have an effect on performance. -- pulseaudio prevents alsa from controlling soundcard https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/329460 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
