I've have this same problem (Dell Inspiron 1501 w/ Broadcom cards) and
I've been working on it for about two weeks now and last night I
downloaded KernelChecker and got it to download and install the newest
kernel (2.6.28-*) and as far as I know the problem is fixed. I've been
scouring the forum for fixes to this problem and the best answer I could
find was to just use the newest kernel. I don't want to put my foot in
my mouth just yet and say that it totally fixed the problem, but *thus
far* it has worked.
