Binary package hint: emacs-snapshot
using GNU Emacs 22.0.50.1 (i486-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.10.3)
of 2006-09-20 on rothera, modified by Debian
as packaged in emacs-snapshot-gtk, Version: 1:20060915-1
Emacs starts normally, with or without splash screen and either from the
command line or from the menu item. From the command line a file can be
opened for editing, eg "emacs caparea.m"
However, trying to load a file using either the File->Open File menu
item, or the toolbar icon, or M-x load-file fails. For the menu or
toolbar, failure crashes the entire emacs process, leaving a message
"Fatal error (6)Aborted".
For the M-x load-file case, the process history looks like:

It's running on a standard Ubuntu edgy distribution, nothing changed
which could affect this as far as I know
Any suggestions?
