Thanks vocx! Though I did not follow the steps that you have provided. But it does looks like issue with Totem and TvTime running together.
I have been experimenting with Ubuntu and various application. So far I have found that TvTime does not go well with Totem and Compiz. I have removed both Totem and Compiz. To have my TvTime running just fine.
