Booting Jaunty doesn't fix it for me. Or actually, I haven't tried that yet. I tried installing Jaunty Alpha 4 (from alternate CD) into a vm in VirtualBox, then connected my Bluetooth adapter to that.
The result was fail. Nothing happened. Still dead. Bupkus.
