I still have this problem on a fresh Intrepid install:

br...@ivey:/var/log$ uname -a
Linux ivey 2.6.24-19-xen #1 SMP Sat Jul 12 00:15:59 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Here's what I do:

br...@ivey:/var/log$ sudo apt-get install linux-libc-devReading package
lists... DoneBuilding dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
  shtool automake1.4 libltdl7-dev m4 libgomp1 autoconf libmpfr1ldbl gcc-4.3 cpp
libgmp3c2 gcc
  automake cpp-4.3 autotools-dev binutils
Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them.
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  linux-libc-dev
0 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 653kB of archives.
After this operation, 3772kB of additional disk space will be used.

I'd have included the three .log files you mention earlier, except I
don't have them, presumably because this is a new install. Anything else
I can do to help push this along?
