For reference, people wanting to get eclipse to work with the JVM it
requires for compatibility, you should edit /etc/eclipse/java_home and
add a comment (#) mark at the start of each line up to the one which
identifies your chosen jvm.

Don't know who this file is maintained by, but if eclipse is the issue
which drives this bug, then perhaps the bug should focus on a change to
this file, so that the sun jvm is at the top of the list.
