In general, usually high Xorg CPU loads aren't caused by Xorg itself,
but rather by client apps themselves, making too many expensive X calls.

There were reports in another bug that upgrading to the latest -180
version of the proprietary driver from Nvidia helped.  But since you saw
similar problems with both -nvidia and -nv, maybe your issue is
different.

In any case, based on your last comment I'm going to optimistically
assume the issue to have gone away.  If not, and if you can isolate that
it definitely is X and not a client app, please do feel free to reopen
this bug.
