In general, usually high Xorg CPU loads aren't caused by Xorg itself, but rather by client apps themselves, making too many expensive X calls.
A troubleshooting guide for this class of issue is available here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/HighCPU There were reports in another bug that upgrading to the latest -180 version of the proprietary driver from Nvidia helped. But since you saw similar problems with both -nvidia and -nv, maybe your issue is different. In any case, based on your last comment I'm going to optimistically assume the issue to have gone away. If not, and if you can isolate that it definitely is X and not a client app, please do feel free to reopen this bug. ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: xorg => xorg-server Importance: Undecided => Wishlist Status: Confirmed => Fix Released -- Xorg on Intrepid using >75% CPU https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/304262 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
