This prob could be bigger than kubuntu. I have installed the standard Ubuntu 8.10. (MSIU100) After the initial install eth0 worked fine, then I installed the 230ish updates and eth0 broke (same symptoms as described here)
DHCP times out and static IP doesn't work. A solution that does not fix DHCP is not acceptable for me (i connect to too many different networks) PS.
