I have annoying problem of brightness setting to maximum level every time, i
do:
    X -> console - > X switching
    laptop lid close and open

The error thrown is:
 thinkpad_acpi: CMOS NVRAM (7) and EC (6) do not agree on display brightness
level

I have currently removed the thinkpad_acpi module ( as a work-around) to
avoid the above said problem
