I doubt people at the security team would rather run a tool as setuid
root than setting cdrom group the required device files. And anyway,
your personal feeling is completely out of scope here: wodim does not
need setuid root to work, and now udev sets the right permissions AKAIK.
We just need a confirmation that this has been solved for quite a long
time.

Please stop advertising your product on our bug tracking system. There
are reasons why Ubuntu/Debian have stopped shipping cdrecord and ranting
everytime we're talking of wodim won't change those. You're spamming bug
reports that were filed against wodim *and don't concern your project in
any way*.
