Same on Lenovo Thinkpad SL500 Laptop (Intel Dual Core, 3 GB of RAM):

OS:
-----
Kubuntu 8.10 / 64bit
Kernel: 2.6.27-11-generic

KDE:
-------
4.1.3. (from backports I think - the error also occurs on the "original" 4.1.0.
KDE)

Graphicsdriver:
----------------------
x.org.intel 2:2.4.1.-1ubuntu10.3 (that is the up to date ubuntu patch level -
if you take a look to the intel site http://intellinuxgraphics.org you'll see
that 2.6.0. with many bugfixes is the *real* up to date driver - that may be a
important part of the problem)

description:
-----------------
Only screen is the laptop build in screen.
Sometimes I am kicked out without warning from a KDE session. Sometimes the KDE
popup "Monitor has been disconnected" appears - but clicking ignore does not
help - it kicks me out of the KDE Session mercilessly.
Sometimes 100s of "Monitor has been disconnected" popups appear one after
another. Clicking "Ignore" does bring the next popups - clicking nothing brings
also the next popups :( But at least I have time to save the state of open
programms before rebooting the machine. After rebooting I most of the time
enjoy a stable KDE.
Occurs most of the time within 5 minutes after a login. A relogin does not make
things better.
Rebooting is the only thing that helps.

The error does not occur on an exactly the same configured ASUS notebook
with a Nvidia 7600Go GFX Card.
