Performing the following steps has worked for a 8.10 "Intrepid” (kernel
2.6.27-9) on a Toshiba M10.

- logout and get into console (CTRL+ALT+F1) then

# rmmod snd-hda-intel
# modprobe snd-hda-intel model=toshiba

- And add the following line

snd-hda-intel model=toshiba

to the ”/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base” (if you omit this modprobe settings
won't be persistent).

Hope it helps.
