I remember trying a few (not shm though), and those I tried all showed the problem. I tried mplayer and the problem was gone, which led me to the culprit: xine-lib. Again, Breezy's version was ok. And I am now using Edgy which has the same problem (and the same lib version I think). I do believe this is an upstream issue.
