I can understand the reasoning behind the decision to blacklist emdebian tools from Ubuntu, but it has unfortunate consequences for some people trying to use Ubuntu for embedded ARM development.
In particular, the Texas Instruments Davinci platform, which uses the ARM core, has a couple tools that have been specifically tested (and patches written) to work under Ubuntu 8.04: http://wiki.davincidsp.com/index.php?title=Serial_Boot_and_Flash_Loading_Utility Many of these same Davinci developers would need to use emdebian to compile binaries, but the decision above now means they must use Debian in addition to Ubuntu, making firmware development more difficult. -- Please remove embedian-tools source and binary from Intrepid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/250309 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
