Don't do yet... For me xmgrace crashes at startup too, but does not if started as root (thanks a lot mutzinet).
Grace works OK if compiled myself against OpenMotif. Thanks a lot for the tip. I'm using Kubuntu Intrepid with KDE 4.2 RC packages from PPA. So, may be it is a KDE-specific bug?
