Description: Ubuntu 8.10 Release: 8.10 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy packagename' or by checking in Synaptic. xserver-xorg : 1:7.4~5ubuntu3 xserver-xorg-video-intel : 2:2.4.1-1ubuntu10 3) What you expected to happen After booting : GDM login screen and the possibility to go to console screens with CTRL+ALT+Fn ( 0 < n ) 4) What happened instead After booting, just a black screen. No GDM login screen, no mouse, nothing. Impossible to go to console screens. But the computer still works : I can hear the ubuntu login sound, and I can go to a console screen and blind type some command (like a reboot). Very similar to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/221119 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/311484 But, if I plug an external monitor and reboot, all seems ok on the external monitor but nothing on the internal LCD. Impossible to switch with the fonction key. I tried with compiz and compiz-core desinstalled and GDM not running (launching X with startx) but the bug still remains. Description of my machine : Lenovo U110 No xorg.conf (I delete it so it uses the xserver auto config) attached : lspci -vvnn, xorg log with an external monitor and xorg log without an external monitor
