** Description changed: The system is Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy Eft and it is installed on a Toshiba P100 MA5 laptop. When booted normally the sound does not work through the on board speakers or headphone jack. - When booted with the kernel parameter acpi=off then sound works but the + When booted with the kernel parameter acpi=off the sound works but the network does not.
