Ok, new workaround for people like me using jaunty: problem is libgdbm3
missing in lib32.

What to to as superuser

wget http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/g/gdbm/libgdbm3_1.8.3-4_i386.deb
dpkg -x libgdbm3_1.8.3-4_i386.deb libgdbm32
cp -a libgdbm32/usr/lib/* /usr/lib32/

Workaround used before now working again. Enjoy.
