I followed all of the troubleshooting steps (other than downloading and
compiling the alsa source) outlined here:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshooting

Still no success.

One thing I notice is my lspci -v | less is missing a lines that say
'Kernel driver in use: <string>' and 'Kernel modules: <string>'

00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio
Controller (rev 03)
        Subsystem: Lenovo ThinkPad T61
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 22
        Memory at fe220000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
        Capabilities: <access denied>

I try running 'sudo modprobe snd-hda-intel' - i get no errors running
the command, however still no sound.
