Using latest Jaunty this bug is fixed for everything, except for the random crashes happening while playing AisleRiot. May be related to some cairo bug, though.
** Summary changed: - Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV + Xorg hangs while playing AisleRiot and dragging cards across decks ** Description changed: + UPDATE: fixed in latest Jaunty by upstream, except for the hangs while + playing AisleRiot. + This has started happening quite frequently since less of two weeks, I'd say, so it may be related to the latest intrepid package of the intel xorg drivers, or to xorg-core, or to cairo. It is triggered on many occasions, and all difficult to reproduce cleanly. For example: * it happened more than three-four times watching a video fullscreen in totem for a while, returning to the normal window view, and opening a terminal window over the one with the running movie -- to be more exact, it happened when I changed the focus of the window from totem to gnome-terminal (but it may have been just a coincidence); * happens very often when playing aisleriot for more than fifteen minutes or so (I'm playing the "Spider" variant of the game, but it shouldn't matter), and always while dragging cards across stacks of cards (in middle-motion). * happened with epiphany+swfdec, while on youtube and starting a video playback. I frankly doubt that apport collected a useful backtrace; it is the first time in more than 30-40 crashes that it does it, and looking at it it doesn't seem to contain a lot of useful informations. ||/ Nome Versione Descrizione +++-===================================-===================================-====================================================================================== ii epiphany-browser 2.23.91-0ubuntu1 Intuitive web browser - dummy package ii gnome-games 1:2.23.90-0ubuntu1 games for the GNOME desktop ii libcairo2 1.7.4-0ubuntu1 The Cairo 2D vector graphics library ii libswfdec-0.7-1 0.7.4-1 SWF (Macromedia Flash) decoder library ii totem-gstreamer 2.23.91-0ubuntu1 A simple media player for the GNOME desktop based on GStreamer ii xserver-xorg-core 2:1.4.99.906-2ubuntu5 Xorg X server - core server ii xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.4.1-1ubuntu2 X.Org X server -- Intel i8xx, i9xx display driver ProblemType: Crash Architecture: i386 Disassembly: 0xb7fc235c: DistroRelease: Ubuntu 8.10 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/Xorg Package: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.4.99.906-2ubuntu5 [modified: usr/bin/Xorg usr/bin/cvt usr/bin/gtf] ProcAttrCurrent: unconfined ProcCmdline: /usr/X11R6/bin/X :0 -br -audit 0 -auth /var/lib/gdm/:0.Xauth -nolisten tcp vt7 ProcEnviron: PATH=/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin LANG=it_IT.UTF-8 LANGUAGE=it_IT:it:en_GB:en ProcVersion: Linux version 2.6.27-2-generic (bui...@palmer) (gcc version 4.3.2 (Ubuntu 4.3.2-0ubuntu1) ) #1 SMP Thu Aug 28 17:20:02 UTC 2008 Signal: 11 SourcePackage: xorg-server Stacktrace: #0 0xb7fc235c in ??
