Yeah, I'm not so sure if this is intended or not. But it shouldn't happen if you want to have both ubuntu-desktop and kubuntu-desktop installed on one partition. The only way I see how to reasonably have Ubuntu and Kubuntu on the same machine is by having two partitions.
