Well, debian stable (4.0) with kernel 2.6.26-1-686 has this issue, if you want to count it as an other distro. But 2.6.26 is from testing and with 2.6.22 from stable (or 2.6.17), if I remember correctly, usb worked. I don't use that machine regularly, only noticed that this issue emerged along with the new kernel.
