screenshot gnome desktop

** Description changed:

I use Ubuntu 8.10 with an DELL XPS 1330, keyboard with "Microsoft
  Windows" key.

I customized Ubuntu a little bit, so that the "Microsoft Windows" key on
my keyboard minimizes all open windows. If I hit this key once again all
of my running application should maximize. Unfortunately, all my
application windows get now lost. I can't find the application windows
on my Gnome GUI anymore. Only the last used application window maximizes
  again.

I tried the following to get the other application windows back on my
  Gnome GUI (with no success):

  1) pressing "Microsoft Windows" key once again (this should maximize all
minimized windows) - no reaction
  2) using ALT + Tab (should open a special window showing all running
applications) - nothing found
(Sometimes the behavior is a little bit different. Using ALT + Tab shows the
running application. But If I focus on it, it does not open the application
window, but disappears even from the ALT + Tab menu.)
  3) using "show desktop" panel applet - no reaction
  4) This even happens if I use the minimize button at the upper left of a
gnome application.
  5) I controlled if some applications went to one of the three other virtual
desktops - nothing found

This bug happens with: firefox, thunderbird, pdf viewer, sometimes with
  openoffice.

This bug is very enervating. Please help me!

+ Additional information:
+ I randomly moved around within the four virtual desktops. Sometimes some
application windows appear, but I can't move them around or even close. I've
added a screenshot of my gnome desktop to my description.
