Hi everyone, first time I have ever posted to a forum (not that you
needed to know that). This sound issue, I think it is safe to say, seems
to truly be a bug.

My problem: no sound in flash after updating to 32bit Ubuntu 8.10. Flash
sound worked fine in my previous 32bit version.

I am running the cheapest PCI 24bit sound card that I could buy at Best
Buy. The integrated sound on my motherboard has never worked.

Booting into my bios and disabling the integrated sound solved the
problem.

I will be happy to give far more detailed info about my hardware if that
will help. The processor is a Athlon X2 and my motherboard is an Elite
Group (I was naive and didn't know).

Judging by the comments in this session, I thought that it might be
useful for me to mention that turning off the integrated sound at the
bios level also worked for me.
