I came across this topic in the fedora forum: http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=209533 It discussed loss of sound and auto-mounting of hard disks, cd-roms etc. What triggered me was that apparently this person's gnome session wasn't properly started as he/she chose another login manager than GDM. I am using no login manager but just a simple text login and start X with startxfce4. I do let xfdesktop load the gnome services, but could it have to do with this?
