I have identified an identical issue with Ubuntu 8.04.1 "Hardy", on a Dell PowerEdge 2300 with a Sonnet Tempo ATA133 controller installed. The Tempo is a 2-channel controller, based on the "Promise Technology, Inc. 20269 (rev 02)." The controller was originally sold for use in a Macintosh.
The attached drive does seem to be reported in dmesg (as "ata1.00: ATA-4: IBM-DTTA-351010, T56OA73A, max UDMA/33"), but apparently doesn't get recognized further, and no entry in /dev/ is created for it. I will attach dmesg and lspci -vv output. ** Attachment added: "dmesg-2009-01-04.txt" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/20901821/dmesg-2009-01-04.txt -- Kernel failing to detect drives on Promise controller https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/93010 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
