Bug is known upstream: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=367972 but supposedly have already been fixed. Suggest OP to try again with a fresh session (close any running Gjiten, run again, open Kanjidic, mark the 'Search By Radical' checkbox, click on 'Show Radical List'). Unfortunately, due to bug, http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=438054 ...this will only work once. If the Kanjidic window, by any chance, is closed, this will result in the same symptom as said by bug reporter i.e. the list comes out as an empty window. Not only that, the radical search will also not function properly.
