running nautilus in root mode gksudo nautilus and browsing to /usr/share/applications/ clicking xscreensaver setup
seemed to anable me to start from default settings Random screensaver and I was able to uncheck Molecules Wao -- [r128 1002:5446] Selecting the Molecule screensaver makes the PC freeze.
