I see the exact same problem as Bob does. I first thougt it was because I had set the virtual property in my xorg.conf, but If Bob has found a solution to the problem I am all ears. How did you remove the 90_upstream_correctly_update.patch Bob? I have tried to make an apt-get source xournal in order to get the ubuntu source code, but I didn't get the patches and the problem is still present if just compiling the source code.
