The best thing to do in my opinion is to file an issue upstream(GNOME's Bugzilla) and work closely with the current upstream translator to get this properly fixed. You could keep this issue open for cross- referencing purposes, but in my opinion, this is an upstream issue and it is not related to Ubuntu.
