*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 63134 *** This does happen in edgy final, and using acpi=force as a boot parameter works on the live/desktop install CD, so I have marked it as a duplicate. I have not been able to test it on an installed version on this system since I am now using dapper as my OS, but I am sure that it would be the same.
